Anyone else finding the customer support for smart home devices to be shockingly bad? I’ve been slowly adding more automation to my house, and the number of times I’ve had to contact support for various things (connectivity issues, wierd bugs, just plain not working as advertised) has been way too high.
It’s not even just the technical expertise, which is often lacking. It’s the runaround! Being bounced between departments, repeating the same facts multiple times, and lengthy wait times are becoming the norm. I recently spent an hour on the phone trying to troubleshoot a smart lightbulb that wouldn’t connect, only to be told it was a known issue and I should wait for a firmware update. An hour!
Is this just the growing pains of a relatively new industry, or are companies just prioritizing sales over support? What have your experiences been like? Makes me almost want to go back to dumb appliances!
