Been thinking lately about how cooking is so much more then just fueling your body. Obviously, eating well affects your mood, but I’ve noticed the act of cooking itself does wonders for my mental state. It’s incredibly grounding to focus on a tangible task, chopping vegetables or stirring a sauce. The multi-sensory experience – the smells, textures, and even the sounds – can be really therapeutic.Anyone else find cooking to be a mindful activity? Sometimes I’ll put on some music and just get completely lost in a recipe, and afterwards, I feel calmer and more centered, even if the dish isn’t perfect. It’s like a mini-meditation session. I’m curious if this is something others experience to, or if I’m just weird. Does focusing on the process effect your mood, separate from the satisfaction of eating a good meal?
