Scenario Analysis: Dressing Minimalist for a Day at the Beach vs. a City Tour

Just had an engaging thought experiment: how drastically different would a minimalist wardrobe for a beach day look compared to one for a city tour? It seems simple, but the functionality needs are surprisingly diverse.

For the beach, I’m picturing a swimsuit (obviously!), a lightweight cover-up (maybe linen or a similar breathable fabric), pleasant sandals or flip-flops, and a wide-brimmed hat for sun protection. That’s pretty much it. Prioritizing sun protection and quick-drying materials is key.

Now, for a city tour, the priorities shift. Comfort is still vital, but so is navigating potentially crowded areas and varying weather. I’d go with comfortable walking shoes, a light pair of pants or shorts (depending on the weather), a breathable t-shirt, and a light jacket or sweater. Sunglasses are a must for both scenarios, and maybe a small, cross-body bag for essentials. The beach focuses on exposure, while the city demands more protection and versatility.I wonder how many items would actually overlap between the two scenarios while still maintaining a true minimalist approach? Anyone else ever thought about this kind of minimalist packing challenge?
