I’ve been thinking a lot about how smart home tech can really shine in smaller apartments and open floor plan condos. It’s not always about adding tons of gadgets, but more about maximizing space and functionality. What are your go-to smart home hacks for making the most of a limited footprint?
For example,I’m a big fan of smart lighting systems integrated with voice assistants. Being able to control all the lights, and even set scenes for different activities (movie night, dinner party, etc.) without having to move around the open floor area, makes a surprising difference. I also find smart plugs essential to automate things like lamps or fans on timers to conserve energy and improve the comfort in different areas of the space, simulating occupancy when I’m away.
I am especially looking for ideas to use the functionality of smart appliances more efficiently. How are you all taking advantage of IOT in clever ways within open-plan layouts to create distinct zones or solve common small-space challenges? Interested to hear what’s working for you!
