Anyone else ever hit a wall when pursuing a creative project purely for fun? Like, no deadlines, no pressure, just wanting to paint some minis, write a short story, or learn to play the ukulele for the heck of it? It’s frustrating to think, “I *want* to do this,” and then just… stare blankly at the canvas/page/instrument.
I’ve found a few things that sometimes help. Forcing myself to do something “badly” can sometimes work.Such as, promising myself I’ll write just *one* terrible sentence, or sketch a figure without looking at the paper. It kinda lowers the stakes. Also, switching mediums for a bit. If I’m stuck on writing, maybe I’ll spend an hour learning a new guitar chord,or even just cleaning my workspace. It sort of resets things. What are your go-to methods for unblocking yourself when it’s supposed to be pure, pressure-free fun? Any advice welcome!
