Anyone else struggle with finding that sweet spot where your artistic vision meets the very specific (and sometimes questionable) demands of a client? I’m working on a logo redesign right now. I had this really striking, modern concept with clean lines and negative space, but the client keeps pushing for a more “playful” design with, and I quote, “a little winking character” integrated into it.
It’s tough because I want to deliver something they’re happy with, and ultimately, they’re paying the bills. But I also don’t want to compromise my own artistic integrity to the point where I’m producing work I’m not proud of. How do you all navigate these situations? Do you have specific techniques for presenting your ideas in a way that helps clients understand your vision? Or strategies for gently pushing back on requests that would wholly derail the design? Maybe it’s just about setting expectations clearly from the outset, but even then, scope creep happens. I’m curious to hear different perspectives.
