Has anyone else noticed the increasing number of ”artistic whims” related careers popping up that didn’t exist, or were incredibly niche, just a few years ago? I’m talking about things like creating custom D&D terrain, specialized prop making for indie films, or even crafting elaborate miniature food displays. It feels like there’s a growing market for highly specific, artistic skills that cater to individual hobbies and passions.
it makes me wonder what’s driving this change. Is it easier access to online marketplaces that allow these artisans to reach a wider audience? Is it the rise of DIY culture and a greater appreciation for handmade goods? or is it simply that younger generations are more willing to pursue unconventional career paths that align with their personal interests, rather than the customary office job?
I’m curious to hear about any experiences people have had either entering or utilizing these sorts of services. Have you commissioned a unique piece that wouldn’t have been readily available even five years ago? Or perhaps transitioned from a more traditional career into something involving highly specialized artistic creations? What are the challenges and rewards of these novel paths?
