Alright, summer is officially winding down, and I’m staring into my closet wondering how in the world to make my summer clothes work for fall. Obviously, some things are just strictly summer (swimsuits, looking at you!), but I’m hoping to salvage as much as possible.
My biggest question revolves around layering. I’m thinking light jackets and cardigans are the obvious choice, but what about specific color palettes? do I try to incorporate more autumnal colors like burgundy and olive green, or can I still make my brighter summer colors work with the right layering pieces? Such as, can I wear a bright yellow summer dress with a dark denim jacket and boots? Or is that a fashion faux pas waiting to happen?
Also, any tips on how to style summer skirts and dresses for cooler weather? Tights are a given, but what about shoes? Are sandals a definite no-go after Labor Day, or can certain styles still work with the right outfit and hosiery? I’m open to any and all suggestions! Let’s make the most of what we already have before diving into a brand new fall wardrobe.
