I’ve been thinking about ways to revitalize our local Slow Food chapter and wanted to throw out some ideas for community events. Beyond the usual farmers market trips and potlucks (which are great!), what about skill-sharing workshops? Think fermentation basics, sourdough bread baking, or even seed saving and starting a community garden.Another thought I had was collaborative meals focusing on specific ingredients sourced locally. We could partner with a nearby farm and build a multi-course meal around whatever’s in season, really highlighting the connection between producer and consumer. Alternatively,we could explore traditional foodways of different cultures in our community, inviting people to share recipes and stories passed down through generations.
maybe some film screenings or discussions related to food systems, sustainability, and ethical sourcing could spark some engaging conversations. What other ideas does everyone have for Slow Food events that would be accessible, educational, and, of course, flavorful?
