I’ve been thinking about how travel, especially long-term travel, seems to heavily influence minimalist style. It makes sense on a practical level – you’re basically forced to pare down your belongings to what you can carry. But beyond the physical constraints, I wonder if the experiences you have traveling actually change your perspective on what you “need,” leading to a more conscious and minimalist approach to fashion and belongings back home.
For example, spending a few weeks backpacking thru Southeast Asia probably makes you realise you don’t need 10 pairs of shoes. Seeing how people live with so much less can be realy eye-opening. Does anyone else find that their travel experiences have directly impacted their style choices and how they consume? Or is minimalism something that attracts travelers to begin with, creating a sort of self-selecting group? I’m curious to hear others’ thoughts on this connection.
