I’ve been thinking a lot about how we present ourselves at work, adn whether a more minimalist approach to our appearance actually impacts how we’re perceived professionally. By “minimalist,” I meen things like sticking to classic, well-fitting clothing in neutral colors, limited jewelry, and a generally understated style.
Do you think this kind of calculated simplicity signals competence and focus to employers and colleagues, or does it risk coming across as boring or lacking personality? I wonder if, especially in more creative fields, a minimalist look might actually be a disadvantage, projecting a lack of imagination or risk-taking.
On the flip side, maybe the absence of flashy elements allows your work to speak louder. I’m curious to hear different perspectives and experiences. Has anyone intentionally adopted a minimalist look and noticed a change in how they’re treated at work or perceived by management?
